Betty Jane Hardacre, 81, Sturgis, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date.
Betty was born March 14, 1928, at Faith, SD, to A.L. "Roy" and Lysle (Farnham) House. She lived on a ranch on the Moreau River until the age of 7. She attended the Round Up school south of old Usta. The family moved to Boulder Canyon in 1935. Betty attended school through the 8th grade in Boulder Canyon and graduated from Deadwood High School in 1946.
On July 4, 1947, she married Clifford Hardacre at Piedmont. They resided in Boulder Canyon. After their divorce, Betty traveled throughout the South West in her motor home. She enjoyed visiting Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico with her dog Julie.
Betty returned to the Black Hills in April of 2008 and moved to Sturgis in February of 2009.
Survivors include daughters, Lois (Ed Trigg) Hardacre, Rapid City, and Jan (Walt) Cox, Whitewood; four grandchildren, George (Chris) Cox, Whitewood, Denise (Paul) Faiman, Rapid City, Terry Hoey, Rapid City, and Kerry (Carson Stiles) Hardacre, Billings, MT; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials have been established to the Sturgis/ Meade County Animal Shelter and the Black Hills Humane Society.
