Betty was born March 28, 1931 at Torrington, WY, to Otto and Anna (Leafgren) Kunce. She was raised in the Hot Springs and Oelrichs area. And at one time she and the family lived on the Sioux Indian Reservation and as a result had a love for the Native American People. She worked at the Evans Hotel in Hot Springs until she met Lloyd Hauber. They were married in Belle Fourche on December 7, 1950 by Pastor Harold Salem. The couple moved to Hulett, Wyoming before settling in Sturgis in 1958. Lloyd worked in the Supply Warehouse and Betty worked in Housekeeping at Fort Meade VA Medical Center.
After Lloyd's death in 1989, Betty continued to work at Fort Meade until her retirement in 2001 after 25 years.
Betty and Lloyd were founding members of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sturgis. Betty enjoyed playing the harmonica and was an amazing pie baker. She was active in her church. She loved the Lord and had a strong faith.
What a precious gift she has been to her family and friends these many years. There has never been a person she didn't like, or a need she didn't respond to. We loved her sense of humor, her perseverance in trials, and her love and enthusiasm for life!
