Betty was born August 26, 1929, in Webb City, OK, to Clarence and Minnie (Alexander) Wass. She married Merle Gerald McFarland on August 11,
1946, in Garber, OK, and to this union, three children were born, Robby, Brett, and Randy.

Betty Jo enjoyed being a wife and mother to her husband and three boys and also enjoyed outings to Deadwood and other places around the Black Hills. She belonged to the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and spent many hours working with the mailers.

Betty Jo McFarland of Rapid City, SD, passed away at 6:40 a.m. on July 24, 2015, at Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House at eighty-five years young.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Robby (Rebecca) of Los Osos, CA, Brett of Rapid City, and Randy of Evans, CO; two grandsons, Ben and Micah; and other extended family and friends.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle, in June, 2000; two brothers; and four sisters.

A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.
