Obituary

Betty M. Park, 89, Rapid City, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Fountain Springs Healthcare with added care provided by Hospice of the Hills.

Betty was born May 1, 1924, at her family home outside of Amboy, Minnesota, to Hope (Hazel) and Corliss Grover. She attended elementary school at Sterling Township and graduated from Amboy High School. She attended Minnesota State University and Mankato State Teacher's College earning a teaching degree. She taught in Dutton and Ledger, Montana. She met John "Jack" Park, the love of her life, while in Dutton, marrying on September 27, 1946. They operated the family farm and ranch outside of Dutton for 35 years, having four children. Betty was an active member of the Dutton United Methodist Church, 4-H Leader, and Order of Eastern Star. After Jack died in 1981, Betty became house director for the Alpha Gama Delta sorority for seventeen years at Montana State University in Bozeman. While employed as a sorority house director she was recognized as Alpha Gama Delta's National House Director of the Year. Upon retirement in 1999, she moved to Great Falls, Montana to reconnect with friends and family. She moved to Hot Springs, SD in 2008, later moving to Rapid City. High points in her love of travel were trips to the United Kingdom, Israel, and a cruise to Alaska. Time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was especially treasured.

Survivors include children, Corliss (Joe) McKamey, Great Falls, MT, Sally (Wayne) Hageman, Hot Springs, SD, John (Ann) Park, Dutton, MT; sister Harriet (Wesley) Bonnett, Amboy, MN, brother Gordon (Janet) Grover, Mankato, MN; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouse John G. Park; baby daughter, Betsy Ellen; sister, Helen Briggs; brother, Winton Grover; and her parents, Corliss and Hope Grover.

A memorial has been established.

A celebration of her life will be Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church in Dutton, MT.
