Betty J. Young, 72, of Rapid City, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Betty was born October 3, 1942 in Torrington, WY to David and Ruth (Britthauer) Trout joining her three sisters: Norma, Violet, and Rosemary. She was married to Ruben "Kenny" Young December 6, 1958 in Philip. They had three sons: Bill, Dennis, and Rick. Betty was an amazingly strong woman. After battling cancer and severe heart conditions, she was still a fighter to the very end. She had an incredible spirit. Her love for her family kept her so strong. Her favorite things were spending hours on the phone talking to her sisters, sewing beautiful creations, baking amazing "yummies" that made us all chubby, gardening, and following every moment of her grandkids' lives. She was their biggest cheerleader. Her other love was her precious Maddy, a beautiful Shih-tzu puppy that was her greatest companion. Survivors include her sons, Bill Young of Black Hawk, Dennis Young of Havre, MT, and Rick Young of Lewistown, MT; a sister, Violet Butler of Rapid City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenny; and sisters Rosie Heesch and Norma Neisent. A Celebration of Betty's life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Black Hills Funeral Home, 1440 Junction Ave, Sturgis, SD with Reverend Herbert B. Cleveland officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Black Hills National Cemetery located near Sturgis.
