Beverly Ann Schomer, 75, Panama City, FL, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at a nursing home in Panama City.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Norman Pierce officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Beverly was born December 16, 1936, at Sturgis, SD, to George and Georgeann Keffeler. She attended school at Hereford, SD, and Whitewood, SD, before graduating from high school at Sturgis.
In her early years, she worked as a nurse's aide at Sturgis and Rapid City Hospitals.
Beverly married Eugene Schomer on June 4, 1971. They ranched east of Sturgis until moving to the Rapid City area in 1980. She worked at Assisted Living Facilities in Black Hawk and Rapid City. She loved nursing and had a special love for the residents and they loved her.
She was a member of the Black Hills Missionary Baptist Church in Rapid City, Sandhills Baptist Church in Chipley, FL, Women of the Moos Auxiliary, several area dance clubs, and the Black Hills Country Music Association. She loved music, dancing and animals; especially dogs and horses, and the outdoors. Beverly and Gene moved to Panama City, FL in 2001.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Schomer, Panama City; son, Brett Schomer and wife, Susanne Mastro; sisters, Phyllis (Stan) Miner, Rapid City, and Evelyn Dingeman, Spearfish; sister-in-law, Jean Keffeler, Whitewood; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Terry Partin; and sisters, Marlys and Carol. Beverly and her brother, Marvin, died on the same day, March 24, 2012.
