Lead - Beverly Jo Strong, 68, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at her residence. Beverly was born February 8, 1946 to Merl and Theo (Cadwell) Winter in Spearfish, SD. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School in the spring of 1964. Following her high school graduation, she got married and had her first child, Raymond. She moved to California in February of 1965 and returned back to the Black Hills area later that same year. In October of 1966 she gave birth to her second child, Jacque. Beverly resided in the Black Hills area until 1970 at which time she moved to Colorado. In 1990, she moved to Arizona and worked for The Arizona Department of Corrections, where she was employed for eighteen years. In 2008, she returned to her beloved Black Hills and resided in Lead until the time of her death. She was a very kind and generous person. She would do anything for her children and her grandchildren. She loved with her whole heart and everyone that met her liked her very, very much. She had brain cancer and fought a long and very difficult battle. She was very brave when it came to treatment, even though it was hard on her body and her mind. She had a great "zest" for life and was always trying to help others. She loved her grandchildren a great deal and she had a special and unique relationship with each one of them. She was a tremendous influence in our lives and in the grandchildren's lives and we will miss her very, very much. She is survived by a son, Raymond (Maria) Strong, Lead; a daughter, Jacqueline Hunter, Lead; three brothers, Maurice, Wesley, and Edward Bryan; three sisters, Lisa Winter, Frances Crites, and Maxanna Flint; five grandchildren, Merrissa Strong, Levi, Rheanna, Michael and Justin Hunter, and a great granddaughter, Juliet Hunter. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William (Bill) Winter; two sisters, Dia Day and Phyllis Smith. God Bless you Mom and Grandma. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead with Reverend Frederick Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.
