Beverly was born in 1949 in Belle Fourche, SD, to Leo and Violette (Laumer) Ahonen. She graduated from Newell High School in 1967. Beverly married David Winkler on September 2, 1967, and their union was blessed with one son, Paul.

Beverly returned to school and graduated with a BA in Sociology and a Minor in Economics from Black Hills State University in 1993. Beverly had a passion for helping and working with children. She was a CASA Volunteer in Ft. Collins, CO, volunteered with the Backpack for Kids Program in Newell, and helped at the Newell AAU Wrestling tournament. Beverly was active in the family farm/ranch operations and she loved to spend time with her family, was an avid reader, a talented gardener and flower arranger, and enjoyed traveling. She always had time for tea parties with her granddaughter, Cody Rose. Beverly loved decorating for the holidays and making Butter Spritz cookies with the help of her grandchildren. She also loved attending all her grandchildren's music concerts and recitals.

Beverly worked as an accountant for Kay Walker in Belle Fourche, SD, and Ketel Thorstenson, CPA, Rapid City, SD.

Beverly Ann (Ahonen) Winkler, a long-time resident of the Newell, SD, area, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016.

She is survived by her husband, David, her son, Paul (Cheyenne), and grandchildren, Cherokee, Wyatt, Garrett, Clint, and Cody Rose, all of Newell; mother-in-law, Marian Winkler, Belle Fourche; sisters, Elaine (Linc) Ainsworth, Piedmont, Susan (Dan) Bulleit, Greenville, IN, and Janette Ahonen, Aurora, CO; brother-in-law, Lloyd Perrin, Clarendon, Australia; sister-in-law, Judy (Kermit) Johnson, Deadwood; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister, Barbara.

Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.
