Bill Dale Jones was born October 4, 1938, to Charlotte (Orr) and Frank Jones of rural Sturgis, South Dakota.  He died peacefully at his home on the family ranch with his family by his side on February 26, 2024, after an extremely short bout of cancer.

Bill grew up on the Alkali Divide east of Sturgis with his parents and sisters, Donna, Betty, and Peggy.  He attended rural school and graduated from Sturgis high school.  Bill married Marie Erickson on December 29, 1962.  They made their home on the family ranch east of Sturgis where they raised their children Todd, Tammy, Travis, and Tricia.  Bill worked very hard to provide for his family.  In addition to farming and ranching, he also worked at Ft. Meade VA for over 42 years.  He made several good friends at Ft. Meade and was recognized several times for going over and above to make sure things ran smoothly at Ft. Meade.

Family and friends were important to Bill.  He was always willing to lend a hand and help when asked.  Bill was a great father and husband.  He was a FANTASTIC grandfather.  His life began anew when his first grandchild was born.  Nora Grace Nelson was followed by Abbie Culver, Cody, and Jesse Jones, and Hudson, Cameron, and Sophie Jones.  Bill loved having the grandkids at the ranch and attending their various events. Bill may not have been the loudest cheerleader, but it was always evident how much he truly cared.   His grandkids came first, and he always made time for them.   He was loved by all his family, and he was sure that his family knew how much he loved them.

Bill is survived by sisters, Betty Hankins, and Peggy Garner; his son, Todd and his wife, Nicole, and their children, Abbie Culver, Cody, and Jesse; daughter, Tammy Jones; son, Travis and his wife, Marne, and their children, Hudson, Cameron, and Sophie; and granddaughter, Nora Grace Nelson.  Marie, his wife of 61 years, joined Bill in heaven on May 11, 2024.   He was proceeded in death by his parents Frank and Charlotte Jones, sister. Donna and her husband Walter Johnson, infant sons, Timothy Jones, and Tracy Jones, daughter, Tricia and her husband John Nelson, brothers-in-law, Keith Hankins, and Harold Garner.
