Newcastle, WY - Billy R. Bates, 38 of Newcastle, died February 1, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Billy was born in Laramie Wyoming on May 20,1973 to Lyle R and Kerry L Bates. Billy, and his mom and brother moved to Newcastle Wyoming in July of 1982. He went to school in Newcastle and Sundance. He graduated from 2 job corps one in Anaconda Mt and Clearfield Utah. Billy worked several jobs in Newcastle but his favorite job was welding. In 2001 he suffered his first heart attack while he wasn't able to work he still went to help people. Billy never knew a stranger and he talked to everyone. Billy is survived by his parents, Lyle R Bates, Westminster, Colorado and Kerry L. Bates, Newcastle, Wyoming; his life mate, Kirstin L Jarboe and children Emily and Cade, Newcastle; his uncle Ray Mathewson, Salt Lake City UT; his cousin, Rich Cotton, Hot Springs,SD; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; two aunts and his brother Jimmy Bates. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Senior Center in Newcastle. A memorial has been established at the 1st State Bank in Newcastle.
