Ratliff City - BILLY CHARLES SMITH, 57, Ratliff City, Okla., died Thursday, June 19, 2008, in Sturgis, S.D.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan, with Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche.
Billy was born April 18, 1951, in Andrews, Texas, to Charles and Billie Sue Durham Smith. He married Kathy Kaye Dixon on July 9, 1970, in Gainesville, Texas.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Cameron University. He worked as a downhole tool fisher for CH Well Servicing for 25 years, and had been employed by BTI for four years. He enjoyed woodworking, music and playing guitar, motorcycles, and being with his grandkids.
Billy left this life also doing what he loved, going on his annual bike-riding vacations with his longtime friends.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Curtis Beaird, and three grandchildren, Seth, Trent and Kurstyn Beaird, all of Ratliff City; his father, Charles and Barbara Smith of Blanchard; and three brothers, Brian and Candice Smith of Cashion, Charles Ray Smith of Kuwait, and Benjamin I. Smith of Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Bearers will be Mike Vanlandingham, Seth Beaird, Trent Beaird, Curtis Beaird, Brian Smith, Mike Hale and Carey Dilbeck.
Honorary bearers are BTI employees.
