IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bonna B.
"Bonnie Knuteson
June 19, 1927 – February 5, 2016
Bonna was born June 19, 1927, in Sturgis to William and Olga (Spurgeon) Price. She would be the oldest of four daughters. The other three were born in Missouri from 1928 to 1934. In 1935, the family moved to North Dakota. Her father was a federal trapper so they relocated often. In 1937, they moved to Newell, SD, so the girls could be educated.
Bonnie grew up and graduated from Newell High School in 1946. That same year, she married Harvey Knuteson, Jr. in August at the Congregational Church in Newell. She was an active promoter of the church her entire life.
To their marriage, four children were born: Charlotte, Dwight, Nancy, and Eddie. They all grew up on Willow Creek 6 miles north east of Newell.
Bonnie was very active in the Newell community, especially in the Church. She was a driving force to keep members active and dedicated to making lives better.
She was a busy ranch wife and one of the best cooks in Butte County. For many years she helped with the lambs at the Newell Stud Ram Show and Sale.
She never quit baking at the ranch. Her children can remember coming home from school in the late afternoon and fresh warm bread and rolls were coming out of the oven. Harvey had to have his sour cream chocolate cake every evening before bed.
Bonnie was a ranch wife for many years. When Fairview school closed and Eddie had to go to town to school she became a teacher's aide in the Newell School; a job she thoroughly loved and enjoyed.
In 1993, Eddie died in an auto accident on Memorial weekend. It was devastating to Bonnie and Harvey but they did what had to be done. They raised Eddie's two boys, Lyle and Levi. The family knows this was one of their proudest accomplishments. The only thing she said was, "I'm just glad we could help."
