Obituary

Bonnie J. Hanson, 69, Reva, SD, passed away early Saturday morning, July 17, 2010, at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND, after a short illness.

Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis and resume one hour prior to services at the Hall on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Reva Hall with family services at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis on Tuesday, July 20th at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.

Bonnie was born March 21, 1941, at Deadwood, SD, to James and Mary (McConnell) Sigman. She attended one year of school in Lead before her folks moved to Bison where she attended and finished high school. She also attended grade school at North Strool. She attended Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish where she received her teaching certificate. After graduation, she taught one year at the Lone Tree School southeast of Bison. She worked various jobs in Bison through the years, working at the Cottage Inn, Vetters Rec Center, the Court House, City Café, baby sat, Bea Hogards Hotel, and the Prairie City Café for Claire Johns.

On July 15, 1961, Bonnie married Keith Hanson, Sr. of Reva, SD, at Sturgis, SD. In the fall of 1961, Keith and Bonnie bought the ranch from Ruby Mort and later purchased the Emmett Quatier farm and his parents' farm, and they raised their family there.

Bonnie was a member of the Slim Buttes Free Lutheran Church and the Women's Missionary Fellowship. Her hobbies included genealogy, quilting, knitting, playing cards, and talking on the phone.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Keith Sr.; five children, Kevin (special friend, Linda) of Bison, SD, Suzan of Hettinger, ND, Noreen (John) Green of Lodgepole, SD, Edward of Sioux City, IA, and Keith, Jr. (Julie) of Reva, SD; four grandchildren, Lance and Lynn Green and Jake and Dalton Hanson; one step-grandson, Robert Dynda; one sister, Patricia (Jerry) Poseley; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Sigman, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Slim Buttes Lutheran Parsonage Addition.
