Obituary

Bonnie Lou (Riede) Petersen, age 76, of Spearfish, SD died on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Lead/Deadwood Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis and resume from 8 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Mr. Kelly Degryse officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. at the cemetery in Dupree, SD.

A memorial has been established.

Bonnie was born November 22, 1931 at Trail City, SD. She was raised at Trail City and as a child moved to Dupree, SD. She attended grade school in Timber Lake and Dupree. She married Elmer Richard Petersen on October 5, 1947 and they started their journey together at Dupree, SD. Her husband Elmer was a mechanic in Dupree. Bonnie had numerous occupations including waitressing, help mate to her husband at the filling station, and cooking at the Dupree School for many years. In 1985, Bonnie moved to Canada to care for her ailing daughter Debbie. In 1990, she moved back to Dupree where she lived in the Dupree Manor until 1996 when she moved to Deadwood and later Spearfish where she lived the remainder of her years. Bonnie was totally enthused with spending time with her children, grand-children and great grand-children. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, gardening, and playing card games. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Deadwood and Spearfish.

Bonnie is survived by her six children; Billie Jean (Micheal) Hansen, Newcastle, WY, Linda (Larry) Ritter, Pender, NE, Howard (Lila) Petersen, Dupree, SD, Connie (John) Truman, Spearfish, SD, Scott (Twila) Petersen, Dickinson, ND, Daniel (Ellen) Petersen, Allegany, NY; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, Daniel J. Riede who passed away prior to Bonnies birth, Susanna (Schaack) Riede-Vaughan and step-father Vance Vaughan; her husband Elmer (Pete) Petersen; and her siblings Leota, Kate, Leah, Bob, Bill, Henry and Daniel; and a daughter Debbie Ann (Ralph) Fields, Pouce Coupe, BC Canada.
