Brandon James Slater, 29, of Lead, SD, and formerly of Lansing, MI, died Sunday, August 28, 2011, at his residence.
A celebration of Brandon's life will be held Sunday, September 11, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lead Assembly of God Church with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. A second service will be held Sunday, September 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the University Christian Church in East Lansing, MI, with Mr. Zachary Pope officiating.
Brandon was born December 21, 1981, in Lansing, MI, to James and Rebecca (Frankum) Slater. He grew up and graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing. Brandon attended the Abilene Christian University. He worked as a clerk at a convenience store/gas station.
Brandon moved to Lead in May of 2010. He was currently working at the Alco store in Lead.
Brandon loved music. He was looking forward to the new season of "House."
He is survived by his father, Jim Slater, Grand Ledge, MI; his mother, Becky Fisher, Florence, AL; his grandmothers, Jo Dickert, Deadwood, SD, and Helen Slater, Dearborn Heights, MI; two brothers, Mark Slater, Burlington, VT, and Zachary Slater, Grand Ledge, MI; one sister, Ashleigh Reade, Florence, AL; and one uncle David Dickert, Deadwood, SD.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Harold Slater and Dave Dickert.
A memorial has been established to the Lansing City Rescue Mission.
