Brenda was born July 13, 1952, at Faith, SD, to Emery and Dorothy (Harvey) Sternad. She grew up between Opal and Red Owl, on Pine Creek. She attended country school for eight years and graduated from Faith High School in 1970.
Brenda worked for Jake and Pauline Block while in high school. After graduation, she moved to Sturgis where she worked as a waitress at the Chat and Chew. While working there she observed a man out of the window which turned out to be Delvin Price, the love of her life! They were married August 21, 1971, at the Methodist Church in Sturgis. Their marriage lasted 48 years.
Brenda loved gardening and her flowers. She enjoyed camping, boating, and snowmobiling with the family, and playing slot machines in Deadwood. She was known for her incredible baking, cooking, making jelly, and canning. Even on her busy days, she still found time to iron everyone's clothes. Brenda played cards while sitting on her Dad's lap and has played cards ever since. She was an amazing wife, Mom, Grandmother, and friend to a lot of people. She also worked at Bob's Family Restaurant for many years.
She worked road construction with Delvin in Cody, WY. They went to work a half hour early so they could watch wildlife in the mornings. In Arizona, she would get up in the morning to watch the Egrets and Blue Herons fish in the river, as well as all of the ducks. She was a member of the group that stuck together since high school, known as the "70's Chicks."
Brenda Collene (Sternad) Price, 66, Sturgis, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019, in Sturgis.
Survivors include her husband, Delvin; daughters, Rachelle Price and Stacy (Gary) Claycamp; grandchildren, Amber, Miranda, Thomas (Makayla), Madison, Lawrence, Nathaniel, and Devin; great-grandchildren, Dominick, Nevaeh, Evelynn, and Easton; sisters, Bonnie (Ross) Clark, Betty Stewart, and Bev Christoffersen; and brothers, Jerry Sternad and Tom (Carole) Sternad.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, at Blessed Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Sturgis with Pastor Paul Winckler officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
