Brian Hallock died October 12, 2007, as the result of a boating accident at Newell Lake, Newell.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday Oct. 17, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial will be at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

Brian was born Feb. 25, 1952 to Merrill "Red" and Joanne (Heyden) Hallock at Ainsworth, Neb. The family moved to Sturgis when he was a young boy and he graduated from Sturgis High School in 1970. Brian had worked at Whitewood Post and Pole, Wheeler Lumber, Wickes Corporation in Vacaville, Calif., Warren Window Supply, Spearfish Building Supply and at the time of his death he was employed by Guardian Building Products.

Brian married Diane Komes at Bear Butte Valley on June 6, 1971.

Brian was a member of the Sturgis Area Arts Council and the Newell Golf Course Board. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Brian kept everyone smiling with his quick wit. He was a loving husband, great dad and an awesome grandpa.

Survivors include his wife Diane Hallock, Sturgis; sons Travis (Lesley) Hallock, Parkston, S.D., Tyler (Erica) Hallock, Casper, Wyo.; brother, Randy (Carol) Hallock, Sturgis; sister, Roanna (Jeff) Pope, Belle Fourche; four grandchildren, Hunter, Hallie, Taya and Teagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
