Obituary

Brian A. Kammerer, 49, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born Jan. 5, 1957, in Rapid City, to Alfred "Lefty" and Shirley (Hale) Kammerer. He grew up on the family ranch in the Elk Creek area. He attended high school in Sturgis, and graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

In 1979, Brian moved to Salt Lake City. He worked at Kennecott Utah Copper for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Society of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (SME).

Brian's talents were many, and he could fix and build anything. He made those around him happy with his keen sense of humor and practical jokes. He left us early and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Kathryn and Jonathon, and their mother, Kelli (Stillman) Kammerer, Salt Lake City; his parents, Lefty and Shirley Kammerer, Piedmont; one brother, Eliot (Cokie) Kammerer, Piedmont; sisters, Jan Sommars, Loveland, Colo., Mary Kay (Rick) Lemmel, Sturgis, and Lisa Kammerer, Denver, Colo.; his nephews, Riley (Jimmie) Kammerer, Piedmont, Jesse, Chase and Benjamin Sommars, all of Loveland, Colo., and Shea Lemmel, Sturgis; his nieces, Kelli Kammerer, Rapid City, Tessa (Levi) Bennett, Gillette, Wyo., and Alexis Lemmel, Sturgis; and one very special friend, Beth Jarrett, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services are today, Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 1 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1049 Howard Street, Sturgis, with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Interment will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to Alcoholics Anonymous, 2480 South Main, Salt Lake City, UT 84115.
