STURGIS| Bruce Louis Madsen, 75, died Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the Department of Veteran Affairs Fort Meade.

Bruce was born September 16, 1940 to Bill and Eylane Madsen at his grandparent's home in Sturgis, SD. He grew up in Kirk, SD, attended school in Lead, and graduated in 1958.

Upon graduating high school, Bruce enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1960 to 1964. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy he moved to Colorado and resided there for several years.

In 2005, Bruce moved to Sturgis, and married Janice Johnston in 2009.

Bruce was loved by all who knew him and always willing to give a helping hand. He was an excellent dancer, hunter, fisherman, and loved the Denver Broncos.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, Sturgis; daughter, Melissa Madsen, Highlands Ranch, CO; son, Travis (Jennifer) Madsen, Centennial, CO; granddaughter, Emily; grandson, William; sister, Bernice Clark, Black Hawk; aunts, one uncle, nieces; nephews; cousins; along with his extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Bill and Eylane Madsen; and sister, Beverly Robertson.
