Bruce J. Olding, 78, Black Hawk, SD, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital. A family celebration of life is planned for a later time.

Bruce Olding was born August 10, 1945, in Seattle, WA, to Bernard and Clara (Eidenschink) Olding. His family moved to Covington, KY, a few months later, after his father was discharged from the military. When he was about five years old, he moved again with his family to Detroit Lakes, MN, where he grew up.  He attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating in 1963.  Soon after graduating he entered the construction world.  He was involved in the construction of many homes throughout his life.

Recently his oldest grandson Brady and his wife Michelle Gilmore welcomed him into their home, becoming is caretakers.

In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, cooking, karaoke, fishing, and hunting in his younger years.  He enjoyed spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren, during retirement.

Bruce is survived by his three children: Pat Gilmore, Yankton, SD, Shannon (Troy) Zwetzig, Newell, Teresa (Justin) Larive, Hurley, SD; two sisters: Gloria Hunsaker, and Sandee (Larry) Listul, both of Detroit Lakes, MN; four grandchildren, Brady (Michelle) Gilmore, Shaina (Jacob) Williamson, Chasin Larive, Lyric Larive; and two great-grandchildren, Leon Gilmore, Talia Gilmore. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Olding, Clara Schoenberger; stepfather, Lloyd Schoenberger; and wife, Judy.
