Calvin 'Chad' Norman Reid, 83, of Sturgis passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Fort Meade VA LTC.

A memorial was held 10:30am Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Black Hills Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with Rev. Joel Higgins officiating.  Burial followed at the Black Hills National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Chad was born July 19, 1925 to Chester & Bessie (Stebbins) Reid in Canistota, SD. After graduating from high school he entered the US Army from December 30, 1943 until March 27, 1946. On July 25, 1947 in Dupree, SD he married the love of his life Laura 'Murt' Muriel
Dunbar.  Together they had two wonderful daughters Renee, and Daina.  The family lived in Canistota, moved to Washington, ranched south of Faith, moved to California, and finally retiring in Sturgis.  Chad enjoyed playing golf and watching sports.

Survivors include wife Muriel of Sturgis, daughters Renee Herrman of Dupree, Daina Sorgani, Belleville, MI, 5 grandchildren Clark (Kym) Herrman, Paul (Shonna) Herrman, Cassie (Mark) Tabor, Eddie Sorgani, Joseph Sorgani, and 6 great-grandchildren Leah, Kailey, Morgan, Jordan, Cole Herrman, Kaleb Davis.

A memorial has been established in Chad's name to the Sturgis VFW 868 Main Street, Sturgis, SD 57785.
