Carl Leroy Henrichsen, 86, Sturgis, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to time of services at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Committal services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Sturgis Public Library.

Carl was born June 11, 1924 at Gann Valley, SD, to Henry and Caroline Henrichsen. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Gann Valley High School.

Carl joined the US Army Air Force and served his country honorably as a gunner during World War II. After returning from military service he worked briefly in Omaha, NE and Ft. Meade, SD, before joining the US Postal Service at Sturgis in the early 60's.

Carl married Carole Weber at Sturgis on August 27, 1972.

Carl retired in 1985 and enjoyed long walks and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife Carole Henrichsen, Sturgis; also four nieces and one nephew.
