Carl Edward Lundgren, Sr., 94, New Underwood, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007, at Believers Fellowship Church in Sturgis with Pastor John Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Carl was born Feb. 14, 1913, at Twilight, Kan., to Albert and Grace (Stanley) Hunt. In 1915, he was adopted by Charles and Lydia Lundgren and moved to rural Sturgis where he was raised. Carl farmed and ranched for many years north of Volunteer on the Lundgren homestead, and owned a farm in the Vale vicinity. He was also employed as an ironworker.

After retiring from ranching, he moved to an acreage east of Mission. Because of health problems, he moved to the New Underwood Good Samaritan Care Center and was there for a short time before his death following surgery at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Carl E. (Mavis) Lundgren, Jr., Fruitdale, and Dale (Janice) Lundgren, Sturgis; three daughters, Koko Wier, Portland, Ore., Vaunda (Merrill) Jorgenson, Prior Lake, Minn., and Cheryl Joy Jacobson, Shell Beach, Calif.; two stepsons, Dean Patton and Michael Grage; three stepdaughters, Darlene DeWitt, Elaine Elliott, and Jeannie Doop; and one brother, Jim Fiedler, Piedmont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jennie Septka Lundgren; his second wife, Bonnie Grage Lundgren; his daughter, Wanda Moseley; his stepchildren, Barbara Kampa Heimbuck, Merland Kampa, Ron Grage and Norbert Patton; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to the Good Samaritan Center of New Underwood.
