Obituary

Carl J. "Buster" Smith, 63, Rapid City, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 6, 1966, to Oct. 4, 1968.

Survivors include two daughters, Tina Rodgers, Lawton, Okla., and Corinna Crist, Dickinson, N.D.; two brothers, Robert H. Smith, Livingston, Mont., and LeRoy "Bud" Smith, Belfield, N.D.; four sisters, LaVerne Luptak and Georgian Pedeliski, both of Dickinson, Janice E. Schlooser, Bismarck, N.D., and Mary E. Kuntz, New Rockford, N.D.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, and from 8 a.m. to service time Friday, Oct. 27, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Keith Nelson officiating. Burial, with military honors by Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard, will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
