Carol Jean Bruch, 84, Sturgis, died Friday, April 3, 2020, at the Monument Health Sturgis Hospital.
She was born April 8, 1935, to Cecil and Ella (Holt) Cammack. She grew up around the Stoneville area where she attended Stoneville School. The kids all had to ride to school in a sleigh during the winter of '49. Carol graduated from Faith High School in 1953 with her best friend, Shirley Schleuning.
She was married to Henry Bruch in 1954 at the Bear Butte Church. They lived near Stoneville until 1961, when they moved closer to Sturgis. She raised her family and ranched until March 29th. She, in her almost-too-fast way, was out sorting pairs in her little green car until her last day.
Carol loved to read and garden. Her other favorite things were to mow or rake hay and be around the cows. She canned and cooked for her family, along with many, many other people over the years.
Carol is survived by her husband, Henry Bruch, Sturgis; sons, Paul (Cindy), James, and Carl (Sheree); daughters, Peggy (Keith), Cathy, and Shirley (Harold); brother, Floyd (Donna) Cammack; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Bonnie Bruch and Doug Van Steenwyk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Ella Cammack; her brother, Bob; one grandson, Kelly Van Steenwyk; and her cousin, Shirley.
A memorial has been established in Carol's name to the Bruch Ranch Cemetery gate fund.
