Carol Louise Dow, 94, Sturgis, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Carol was born February 12, 1921, in Newell, SD, to Harry and Ivis (Babb) Hogan. She grew up on a ranch about 30 miles north of Newell where she worked herding sheep. She went to school through the eighth grade, which was all that was available to her. Carol married Ray Dow and had two children, Richard and Eileen. She managed Mary's trailer court and her husband, Ray's, various businesses (he often had more than one) with no computer or calculator. Her home was always open for a cup of coffee or if they needed a place to stay. She took care of countless people, young and old. After moving to her apartment she still took care of anyone who needed it but not in her home.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Eileen Travis, Golden, CO; grandsons, Todd (Kathy) Dow, Burbank, WA, Sam Koontz, Aurora, CO, and Hunter Godsey, Golden, CO; great-grandchildren, Dakota Koontz, Denver, CO, Raymond Romero, Arvada, CO, and Cody Dow and Cassie Bell Collin Dow, both of Burbank, WA; sister, Fay Giannonatti, Sturgis, SD; brother, Jay (Rosemarry) Hogan, Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law, Wanda Hogan, Sturgis, SD; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Margaret Mutchler who put in countless hours caring for Carol.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Dow; one son, Richard Dow; and two brothers, Dale (Pinky) Hogan and Ross Hogan.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Northern Hills.
