Obituary

Carol Ann (Hilton) Grubl was born January 7, 1938, in Mobridge, SD, to George and Helen Hilton. She grew up and attended 1st-12th grade in Mobridge. Carol then ventured to Brookings, SD, where she attended college. This is where she met a bullrider she could not resist. After two years, they decided ranching might be for them.

City met country on June 14, 1958, when Carol and Eddie were united in marriage in Mobridge, SD. From that point forward, they resided on his grandparent's place on the Alkali Divide. This was a journey they enjoyed for 59 years together. Carol was fortunate enough to spend her last day at home.

During their life together, they were blessed with two children, Georgi Ann and Barney. Carol was a gal of many talents. There was not one thing she couldn't do or attempt to do. From cooking, gardening, sewing, photography, calving, gambling, or just speaking her mindshe could handle it all.

As she traveled through her life helping Eddie on the ranch, she also served on various boards and committees. And yes.She was always right! As many of you remember, Carol said it like it was in her column "Meanwhile Back At The Ranch." A part of her has been passed on to each of our homes and hearts.

On the evening on January 6, 2018, surrounded by her family and her cat, one last time Carol said, "Load up the cream can, I'm ready to go home."

Being grateful for sharing in her life as a wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma are her husband, Eddie Grubl; daughter, Georgi Ann (Delbert) Cobb of Red Owl, SD; son, Barney Grubl of Oceanside, CA; 5 grandkids, Ashly (Brett) Price, Clint (Donelle) Cobb, Brandon Grubl, Zach Grubl, and Brianna Grubl; and then the cream of the crop, her 7 great-grandchildren; Timber, RyLee, Cooper, Roan, Carsyn, Camri, and Arya.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and her mother and father-in-law.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Sturgis Community Center Theater with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating.

Memorials have been established to Northern Hills Hospice and the Red Owl Hall Playground Fund.
