Carol Madsen Kleinheksel, 87, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026.

Carol was born on July 8, 1938, to Stanley and Mary (Meoska) Madsen in Plankinton, SD. The family came to include her brother, Richard “Dick” Madsen and step-mother, Lossie. She married Roy Kleinheksel in Newcastle, WY, on October 4, 1971. She was the proud mother of five children: Michael, Donald, David, Debbie, and Barbara.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Kleinheksel of Rapid City and David (Michele) Kleinheksel of Belle Fourche; daughters, Debbie (Terry) Sargent of Lead and Barbara Meverden (fiancé, Brian Baier) of Lead; sister-in-law, Billie Madsen of Plankinton; grandchildren, Trenton Kleinheksel, Nicole (Bryan) Jensen, Cory (Eun) Kleinheksel, Brandy (Jory) Helms, Jeremy (Kristi) Sargent, Jason Sargent, and Joshua (Kayla) Meverden; and great-grandchildren, Nakayla Kleinheksel, Rea Kleinheksel, Jameson Helms, Parker Helms, Brody Sargent, Wyatt Sargent, Connor Sargent, Jaxon Sargent, Jax Volk, and Oaklyn Meverden.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, husband, daughter-in-law, Melody, her brother, and her son, Michael Thompson.

The family would like to thank Linda Phillips and Tina Carter from Golden Ridge Assisted Living in Lead, the entire staff of Rolling Hills Healthcare in Belle Fourche, and the caring team from Stillwater Hospice.

Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2026, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 at the Chapel. Graveside services will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
