Obituary

Carol was born on June 11, 1926 to Harry B. and Leona E. Spargur. Dr. N. Wells delivered her at the family ranch in Sand Canyon, Weston County, Wyoming. She died at her home at Mondell Heights Retirement Home in Newcastle on September 15, 2016.

She attended schools in Osage and Newcastle. She also went to school in Omaha, Nebraska for a short time, then her family moved back to Wyoming. Carol, also known as Corky, graduated from Newcastle High School in 1944.

Following graduation, she moved to California during WWII and worked as a welder building ships for Cal-Ship. Following the end of the year, she moved back to her home in Newcastle. She worked at a number of jobs throughout her life. She worked as a dispatcher for the Weston County Sheriff's Office, as a bookkeeper and secretary for Ted Sheehan Trucking and Baroid Bentonite at the Clay Spur facility. Corky also kept the books and did all of the office work for Pollat Well Service and finished her working years as an office worker for Tesoro Refinery in Newcastle.

Corky married Max Pollat on September 15, 1945. They had 3 daughters born to this union, Karen, Kathryn, and Dianna. Corky and Max moved to the Pollat Ranch in the 1970's where they raised horses. Corky enjoyed showing several horses in the Western Pleasure class at various horse shows around this area and in the surrounding states. She rode a Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved to ride her bike. She bowled on several teams and also enjoyed golfing.

After she retired from the refinery, they sold their part of the ranch and moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico. She stated at one time that she could golf 364 days a year there. She took Christmas day off, so she did not golf EVERY day.

After a fall which injured her shoulder, Carol and Max decided it was time to move back to Wyoming where they had family that could help them in their later years.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathie (Lloyd) Davis and Dianne Davis; five grandsons; two granddaughters; sisters-in-law Rose Van Cleave, Carol (Virg) Cullum, and Colleen Pollat; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
