Casey Donald Anderson, 22, Aberdeen, SD, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Aberdeen.

Closed casket visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 9:00 pm at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating . Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Casey was born in Rapid City, on November 10, 1986, to Tom and Cathie (Doering) Anderson. He attended school in Sturgis and was active in football, basketball, soccer and track. He participated in tennis for one year. In track, Casey was selected as the Gatorade Athlete of the Year. He was second team all conference two years in a row and received honorable mention all state his senior year in basketball. He also received all state honors for punting in football. Casey graduated from Sturgis High School in 2005 and was attending Northern State College where he was studying Health Science and Business. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and weight training and had recently started ranching and farming.

Casey was a member of Northern State Men's Basketball team, former member of Young Life. He was active with summer basketball camps for kids at Northern State and participated in numerous community service projects through athletics.

Survivors include his parents, Tom and Cathie Anderson, Sturgis; two brothers, Eric Anderson, Austin, TX, Jesse Anderson, Spearfish, SD; maternal grandmother Iza Doering, Sturgis; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his girlfriend, Nicole Rausch.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

A memorial has been established to the Northern State Men's Basketball Scholarship Fund.
