Cecilia "Dotty" A. Sundstrom, 98, Spearfish, SD, died Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Edgewood Spearfish, Spearfish, SD.

Dotty was born November 26, 1924, in Newell, SD, to Alex and Emelda (Monty) Carrieres. She was raised near Castlerock and attended Castlerock School. She lived on a ranch north of Castlerock for many years. Later, she moved to Newell where she was a cook in a café.

Dotty was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the NVN Senior Center. She kept active playing cards and with her hobbies, crafts, and bingo. Dotty was well known for her pies.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis (Kay) Sundstrom and Sheldon Sundstrom, all of Belle Fourche; 2 daughters, Melanie (Randy) Welke, Newell and Beverly (Jim) Schlosser, Hulett, WY; special granddaughter, Stephanie Eichler; grandchildren, Sylvia May and Jason Paland; four step grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Roderick and Frederick; 2 sisters, Edna and Fidelia.

A memorial has been established.
