Obituary

Cheryl Ann Ramsdell, 52, Sturgis, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 9, 2012, surrounded by her family.

Cheryl was born on May 24, 1960, in Rapid City, SD, to James and Phyllis (Johnson) Rundell. She attended Meadowbrook Elementary School, West Junior High, and graduated from Stevens High School in 1978.

Cheryl married Daniel Ramsdell on June 23, 1978, in Rapid City. Shortly after her marriage, she had her son, Christopher. In 1984, Cheryl completed her family with the birth of her daughter, Alicia. She worked most of her life at SCI in Rapid City where she met many life-long friends. After SCI closed, she briefly worked at Sturgis Brown High School before settling in at DSS Child Support Enforcement in Rapid City.

Cheryl's main focus in life was being a great wife and mother. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, hiking, biking, and spoiling her grandson. Cheryl was particularly handy in that her and her husband gutted the home they purchased in 2003 and remodeled it completely on their own. Cheryl was also known to fix the occasional car, plumbing issue, etc. Cheryl was also a great friend in that she could always be counted on in a time of need.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Ramsdell of Sturgis; son, Christopher (Ruby) Ramsdell of Rapid City; daughter, Alicia (Jonathan Fritts) Ramsdell of Middletown, DE; her parents, James and Phyllis Rundell of Black Hawk, SD; three brothers, Steven (Vicki) Rundell of Norfolk, NE, Alan (Marie) Rundell of Piedmont, and Mark (Lori) Rundell of Black Hawk; sister, Joan (Mark) Thompson of Piedmont; grandson, Mason Fritts of Middletown, DE. Cheryl is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be held at Black Hawk Community Church, in Black Hawk, SD, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, with Pastor Ken Fairbrother officiating.

A memorial has been established to the Black Hawk Community Church.
