Cheryll Ann Fleming Wells was born on May 13, 1952, in Hot Springs, South Dakota. She was raised in a one room farmhouse along with her two younger brothers. Cheryll was a child of the land, growing up making mud pies and playing on the farm. As a teenager, she waitressed at Maverick Junction, east of Hot Springs. In 1969, she married Valentine Anthony Jenniges Jr., in Helena, Montana. They gradually made their way back to the Black Hills where they raised their children in Rapid City.

Cheryll had many interests and talents including beading, crocheting, sewing clothes, and photography. She fell in love with reading and would stay up may nights reading about whatever she could find. Cheryll appreciated rock hunting and spending time with her grandparents. Although her upbringing presented many obstacles, she remained resilient and kept moving forward. She had courage and stamina to forge ahead with her integrity held high. In 2023, she and Wallis Wells were finally united in marriage after many years of companionship. After they first met, while working at Family Thrift Grocery, they moved to Belvidere, SD where they managed the local hotel for some years. They returned to the Rapid City area around 2015, where they had a small farm operation until losing their home to a fire in 2022. After selling the cows and farm equipment, it was decided to move to Sturgis where they enjoyed the Black Hills, riding together, hand in hand, in the side by side.

Cheryll joined Wally at Heaven's Gate, almost one month later, on January 24, 2025, due to health complications and most likely a broken heart.

She is preceded in death by her lifelong soulmate, Wally. Her parents and her brothers.

Cheryll leaves behind her children, Tania Macklin of Iowa, Tony Jenniges of South Dakota, and Attila Rose (Richard) Simpson of Montana; four amazing grandchildren, Ethan Bauman, Marina Bauman, Calvin Macklin, and Lillian Macklin.

Services will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date, where she and Wally will be buried together.
