C. Phillip Friis was born April 29, 1938, at Fremont, NE, and adopted by Christen Peter and Helen (Snyder) Friis. He grew up in Stockton, CA, where he attended school. He lived in Campbell, CA, and worked in San Jose, CA, as a computer programmer. While in California, he married Anne Kirkland in 1983. They later moved to Newell.

Phillip, 73, Newell, died February 3, 2012, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Anne, Newell; daughter, Melissa Lee; son, Timothy John; step-son, Stephen Alexander, Mesquite, NV; and step-daughter, Joanne Alexander, Farmington, NM.

Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of the Northern Hills.
