Obituary

PORCUPINE | Christine "Chris" Cook, 83, died June 7, 2015, at her home after a battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Leon and Hattie Twiss (Red Owl), and loving wife of Stanley Cook. Chris worked as a medical records technician with Indian Health Services until her retirement. She loved spending time with family and friends, horseback riding and painting. She is survived by her son, Allen (Mary); three grandchildren, Tory, Dan, and Kathleen; several great-grandchildren; and the Curtis Temple family who were very dear to Chris' heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Amos; four sisters, Evelyn, Bessie, Lula, and Myrna; as well as her husband, Stanley; and sons, Carl and Donald. She will be greatly missed by family and many loving friends. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis, with the Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
