Obituary

Clarence James Richards left this earth on Saturday, July 9, 2022. He entered this world on April 12,1934. He was born to Edith Rouillard and Henry Richards.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Cleo Garneaux and Leah Rae Richards. Clarence was born in Pine Ridge Reservation, SD and died at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD.

Clarence experienced two great loves in his life, the late Donna Hitt (Moore) and the late Monique Richards. Clarence is survived by his two sons, Gary L Moore and Daniel J Moore; his grandchildren, Sonja Moore (Cook), Sean Moore; and Daniel's sons, Jeremiah, Joshua, Jared and Nathan. He experienced great joy when he had an opportunity to meet his loving granddaughter, Sonja, last September. Clarence was blessed with the love of many nieces and nephews, and friends like Delbert Yellowhorse and Ken Ross.

His family and friends knew him as "Bookie". Bookie loved his family, his dear friends, his little dog and companion, Winyan, his independence, his people, and touring his beautiful town of Hot Springs on his blue mobility scooter.  He was known around town as quite a character!

Clarence served honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War and he was a proud member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

God Bless Clarence "Bookie" Richards.
