Hank was born April 1, 1915, at Quinn, SD, to Theodore "Dutch" and Enid (Lathrop) Sanders. He lived on his parent's farm 10 miles west of Custer, SD, until 1937 when he went to Richfield, ID. He went into the Army in 1941 and served in Italy. He received his honorable discharge in 1945 and settled in California near the Los Angeles area. Hank met and married Margaret Cox at Las Vegas, NV, on October 23, 1945. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for several years. In 1980, they decided that California was just getting too crowded, so the couple moved to South Dakota. They first settled on his brother Clifford's ranch near Enning, and later moved to Edgemont, SD.
He is survived by one brother, Mike Sanders, Sun City, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994, four brothers, and four sisters.
A memorial has been established to the Central Meade County Community Center.
