Obituary

Clois "Gunny" R. Reppond was born on 17 April 1939 at Ninnakah, Oklahoma.  He was the second son of John N. Reppond (1900-1970) and Annie Timmons Tigner (1904-1998).   His other siblings were; brother, Lyn Spencer Tigner (1921-2006) and wife, Patricia (1930-2009); sister, Liberty Montis Tigner (1923-2018) and husband, Leroy Bowen (1915-1989), and brother, John N. Reppond, Jr. (1937-2015) and wife, Loretta. He married Helen Virginia DeMoss Bell (1924-2015) on 3 March 1976 at Des Moines, Iowa.  Clois died on 8 August 2024 at Rapid City, South Dakota surrounded by family and a host of friends.

Clois graduated in 1958 from Alex High School in Alex, OK, and shortly thereafter joined the US Marine Corps where he spent the next twenty years fighting for our country.  He retired as a Gunnery Sergeant.  He was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery during the Vietnam War.  His next career was working the oil fields in Oklahoma.  He then moved to Texas for several years to be close to Helen's son Wayne and family.  In 2015, after the death of his wife, he moved to South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, his wife Helen, two daughters-in-law; Susan Kay Huggins Bell (1948-2004), and Gail Elaine Conn Bell (1949-2010); one grandson, John Samuel Bell; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Rachelle Shropshire Bell (1994-2020), and Westley Eli Bell (2016-2021); and one great-great-granddaughter, Melody Gail Byers (2018-2018).

He is survived by sons; Garold Dwayne Bell and wife, Kris; Wayne Lee Bell and wife Mary; Dennis Leroy Bell and wife Tammy; Loretta M. Reppond, wife of John Reppond Jr, and nephews; Rodney J Reppond, and Douglas Wayne Reppond and his wife Jana.  In total there are 3 children, 22 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren to mourn his loss.
