Conrad Henry Larsen, known as Henry to his friends, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 1, 2013.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 6, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2400 S. Baldwin Street, Sturgis, with the funeral starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Bear Butte Cemetery.
Henry was born December 23, 1926, at Bowman, ND, to Conrad and Helen Larsen. He grew up on a ranch south of Rhame, ND. Henry served in the military in Japan during World War II. After the military he returned to the ranch. He had a great love for horses and raised and trained registered Arabian horses. In 1964, Henry married the love of his life, Marion Lynch, from Rochester, MN. They have one daughter, Kay, who resides in Rapid City, SD.
In 1971, the Larsens moved to Spearfish, SD, where he worked on construction. In 1973 they moved to Lead, SD, and then to Sturgis in 1976. In 1976, Henry joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many callings as an elder of the church. Henry did maintenance for the Meade County Courthouse until he retired in November 1991. Some of the past times he enjoyed with his family were travelling, camping, fishing, and hunting.
Henry is survived by his wife, Marion; daughter, Kay; two sisters, Ione Carlson of Bowman, ND, and Patsy Getz of Amidon, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
