Connie Jean Connor, 65, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at her home in Sturgis, SD.

She was born August 7, 1948, in Redfield, SD, to Wendell and Betty Knapp. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1966. She attended SDSU and Northern State College, graduating with a degree in medical technology in 1971. She was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Connor on January 23, 1968. To this union two children were born: Tamra (Eric) Graham, and Steven Connor.

Connie's work as a medical technologist led to her Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD, and then to Indian Health Service Hospitals in Barrow and Anchorage, Alaska. Connie retired in 2008, achieving 30 years of federal service.

A love for adventure took Connie & Bob moose and caribou hunting, camping, four-wheeling, and "snowmachining". Connie loved being outdoors, particularly sitting in front of a campfire.

Those left to cherish the memory of her independent, strong-willed spirit are her husband, Bob; children, Tam & Steven; siblings, Greg Knapp and Diane Larsen; grandchildren, Adrianna, Holden, and Eliel; animal pals, Doc, Cleo, and Mittens; and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives have been touched by her spirit.

Public visitation for Connie will be on Sunday, November 17th from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD. The family will receive friends during the visitation from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1061 Sherman St, Sturgis SD, with Pastor Henrique Fleming officiating. The family invites you to join them for fellowship and lunch in the church hall immediately following the funeral service. Committal and burial services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19th at Black Hill National Cemetery.
