Corky
Linderman
Jul 14, 1933 — Dec 5, 2020
Rapid City
Alvin "Corky" Frank Linderman, age 87, of Rapid City, South Dakota, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 5, 2020 with family by his side.
Corky was born on the family farm near Onaka, SD on July 14, 1933 to Andrew and Christina (Burkhardt) Linderman. Corky worked on the family farm and was also a hired hand for several farms in the area until he moved to Rapid City in the late 1950s and worked for Floyd Staff Road Construction.
He married the love of his life Carol Hess on December 30, 1960 in Onaka and then settled in Rapid City, SD. His work history in Rapid City continued with Ralph Neff Trucking, Bob Hamm Timber, D&W Crane, and JK Crane. Corky and Carol were happily married almost 33 years until Carol's untimely death on March 8, 1993.
After he reluctantly retired, he kept busy by helping his friend Vern at his shop. They would meet for breakfast at the 4U Café or the Morningside Cafe. In early 2006, the trailer park he was living at on Omaha Street was closed and Corky moved in with his daughter Cathy. After Vern's death in 2009, he continued to begin his day by eating breakfast at the Morningside Café. His favorite was coffee and either hash browns and gravy or toast and gravy. His last few years he was lovingly cared for by his son-in-law Troy.
Corky is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Troy) Enninga; son, David Linderman; grandchildren, Jenn (Mike) Jager, Heidi Linderman, and Mathew (Emily) Landman; great grandchildren, Isiah Linderman, Megan Jager, Michael Jager, Melody Landman, Alaina Landman and new baby Landman; sisters, Agnes (Nick) Steckler and Johanna (Marvin) Weyand; brothers, Wendlin "Red" (Darlene) Linderman and Leroy "Bill" Linderman; and many other loving relatives. Corky is preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Andrew and Christina; brother, Lawrence; sister, Dolores (George) Steckler; and granddaughter, Jessica Landman.
Corky will be laid to rest with his wife, Carol, in a private family service at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City, SD.
