After a 15-year battle with Alzheimer's, Curtis Alan Jones passed away at Avantara St. Cloud in Rapid City on October 12, 2025.

Born on December 21, 1949 to Gilbert and Edna Jones, Curtis spent his formative years in Faith, SD. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Faith where he served as altar boy. He attended all 12 years of school in Faith. He attended college at USD, Black Hills State, and later received an Associate's Degree from National College of Business in Rapid City.

He resided in Colorado for about five years before returning to South Dakota. He married Susan Hawks on May 10, 1980 at Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont. The have resided near Piedmont for the last 45 years.

Curtis spent most of his life working in the construction industry. He enjoyed hiking, landscaping, brewing beer and listening to rock music and the blues at very high volumes. He also enjoyed collecting vintage cameras.

Curtis has received nursing home care for the past seven years. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Gilbert and Edna. He is survived by his wife, Sue; and his brother, Kim (Robin) Jones of rural Faith; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

All those who knew him remember him as kind and fun-loving.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Grace United Methodist Church, 10060 Foothills Dr, Piedmont, SD (Exit 46). Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Piedmont Cemetery.

Please join the family for fellowship and remembrance in the church hall following the service. Afterwards, we will gather at the Slash J Bar in Piedmont.
