Curtis Ray Lillis, 50, died on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Black Hills Baptist Church in Whitewood with Pastor Sean Donnelly officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Whitewood Cemetery.

Curtis was born in Whitewood on November 22, 1963, to Paul and Meriel (Hansen) Lillis. He grew up in Whitewood and moved to Montana to attend Job Corps. It was there that he obtained his GED and learned to weld. He worked in Montana as a welder for a while and then moved to Sturgis to be closer to family. He worked in Sturgis as an aluminum welder for the last several years.

Curtis enjoyed spending his time working with wood, making hiking staffs, and was a talented artist, drawing many different subjects.

He is survived by his mother, Meriel (Tom) McGlade of Whitewood, and his brother, Ricky Lillis of Belle Fourche.

Curtis is preceded in death by his father, Paul, and his brother, Clayton.
