Cynthia Howard, 68, of Sturgis, SD, passed away on September 10, 2023 in New Underwood, SD, after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Cynthia was born in Sturgis, SD, on August 2, 1955 to Audrae & Huston Howard.
After living most of her young life in Sturgis, Cynthia went on to become a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1974 whereby her 45-plus year career saw her living in various states including South Dakota, Wyoming, and Arizona. She successfully utilized her training to hold various positions within both administrative and functional nursing capacities. In full display of her dedication to patient support, Cynthia would often be heard as saying her ultimate goal was "being with and providing loving care to our patients".
During the latter part of the 1980's, Cynthia went on to complete her B.S., Social Sciences followed by her M.A., Communication/Mass Media, both obtained at the University of Wyoming.
From there, Cynthia utilized her skills in building several entrepreneurial endeavors that had her traveling across the United States, and internationally, where she was called upon for consulting and training services.
When not working, Cynthia loved to spend time with her daughters, travel, golf, play poker, enjoy live music (with a glass of champagne bubbles!), beadwork and sewing amongst numerous other creative activities.
Cynthia touched many lives and will always be remembered for her infectious smile, gentle touch, the twinkle in her eyes, quick wit, and her unequivocal love for her family and friends.
Lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Heather Gardner (Jason McGlone) and Kristen Paine (Jayna Dombek); brothers Gary (Beth) Howard, Rhett (Sue) Howard; and mother Audrae Howard. She was preceded in death by her father, Huston Donald Howard and several aunts and uncles.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Cynthia's name.
