Daisy Henrietta Sager Gardner Magenheimer, 95, Rapid City and formerly of Sturgis, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House.

Visitation will be noon until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 07, 2011, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Rev. John Little officiating. Burial follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House.

Daisy was born November 30, 1915 to Don and Anna (Berk) Sager at their home near Gordon, Nebraska.

Daisy moved with her parents and sisters Lavalla and Ruby to Sturgis in 1917. Daisy was married to Bert Gardner February 17, 1934 in Sturgis. They had 4 children: sons Don and twins Delbert and Elbert, and daughter, Virginia. Elbert died in 1936 and Delbert died in 2005. The family lived in various logging camps around the area and then lived in Sturgis. Daisy worked for several years at the Hatchery in Sturgis, candling eggs and delivering them to towns around the Hills. She raised her children with love and her hobbies were fishing, oil painting, crocheting, camping, riding in the Hills with Bert and spending time with her sisters. Her husband, Bert, died in 1981.

Daisy married John Magenheimer April 22, 1992 in Sturgis. John and Daisy did volunteer work for the Sturgis Senior Center, the Chamber of Commerce, and at Bear Butte. John and Daisy loved selling fruit in many of the towns in the area. They also loved to go for rides and walks around the Black Hills. John and Daisy moved to assisted living Rapid City in 2008.

Surviving Daisy are her husband John Magenheimer, Rapid City; children Don and Rosie Gardner, Fairburn; Virginia and Dave Utter, Rapid City; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Gardner, Willits, California . Grandchildren are Dave and Jennifer Utter and their son, Johnathon, Piedmont; Darrell and Shannon Utter and their daughters Shaelyn and Ashlyne, Rapid City; Susan Utter, Rapid City; Bobby and Jewel Gardner and their children, Jared, Christine and Ricky, Willits, CA; Grandson Michael's sons Jeremy and Gregory; Granddaughter Shanna Parker and her children Brandy, Casey, Dustin and Tanner, and the children's father, Vernon Parker, Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter Donita and Ray and their son RJ, Rapid City; grandson Johnny and Kim and their children Shay and Cody, Albuquerque, NM; grandson Tony Gardner, Las Vegas, NM; and grandchildren Don, Richard, Randy, Rickita and Tanya and their families.

Preceding Daisy in death were her husband, Bert, sons Delbert and Elbert, and grandson Michael Gardner. Daisy was the last one left of her generation and was preceded in death by all of her sisters and brothers.

Daisy was baptized at First Baptist Church, Sturgis, SD, by Rev. Wendell Mosser. She was a member at that church and at Black Hills Baptist Church in Whitewood, SD, and at Sturgis Christian Church.
