Obituary

Dale Dawayne Escott, 82, Ft. Meade, died on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Black Hills National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard. Family and friends will gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel at 11:00am before the service.

Dale was born on January 23, 1932, in Faith to John "Lynn" Franklin and Venita Lucille (Walter) Escott. He grew up in the area and attended rural grade schools to the eighth grade. He worked for various ranches until he joined the US Army on November 25, 1952, and served until his honorable discharge on November 3, 1954. He worked as a logger after his discharge until he became disabled. He enjoyed listening to old western music.

He is survived by his daughter, Cammy Newman, and her son, Matthew of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Jim Graves, Paris, TN; two nephews, numerous cousins, and his cat, Weeble.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Helen Lee Graves.
