Dale Walter Mutchler, 71, Newell, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Sturgis Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness with cancer.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 9, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Dale was born Sept. 28, 1935, to Walter and Mary (McCarthy) Mutchler at Nisland. Dale attended his early education at the Sulpher Creek School and the home place school, graduating in 1953 from Nisland High School.

He spent all of his 71 years on the family ranch, except for when he worked for Peter Kewit Company hauling gravel to missile sites in the early 1960s and for Dean Oliver for a while, and later for the Butte County Highway Dept. until the fall of 1967 when he returned to the ranch full time.

Dale married Dorothy Gray in 1956, and from this union, two great children were born, Robin Dale and Ronda Jayne.

He married Beverly Richardson on Oct. 21, 1966, and they spent more than 40 wonderful years together on the family ranch.

He is survived by his wife, Bev Mutchler, Newell; one son, Robin Dale (Regina) Mutchler, Billings, Mont.; one daughter, Ronda Jayne (Dennis) Fulkerson, Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Faye Mutchler, Newell; and three grandsons, Jason Fulkerson, Theodore "TJ" Mutchler, and Matt Mutchler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Gladys Mutchler.

Dale will be remembered for his quick wit, kind ways, and his smile.

A memorial has been established to the Mud Butte Fire Department.
