IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dan Robert
Regan
August 21, 1946 – March 1, 2020
Dan was born in Sturgis, SD, to Bob and Mary Regan on August 21, 1946, and lived there most of his life. In 1970, Dan married the love of his life, Mary Ann Stoddard, and for the next 50 years they were side by side, raising 3 kids, grandkids, making memories, and welcoming everybody into their home with love, kindness, and maybe a little cocktail.
Dan worked several jobs, including working 8000 feet below the ground for 10 years when it was supposed to be one year, until he found his true niche in life working full time in the SD National Guard. The Guard was a huge part of Dan and his wife, Mary's, life. Dan made many friends and got to see the world. Dan retired as a Command Sergeants Major in 2003.
Dan was foremost a loving husband to Mary, a great dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Dan was also a devoted soldier and a true patriot. He was, at one time in his much younger life, a rock and roll star! He also considered himself quite the home renovation master and always had a project or two goingor more!
Dan lived a very full and happy life. His family has multiple camping stories, skiing memories, sleigh riding, car driving lessons, and dance lessons. His own childhood stories are numerous and hilarious. A man never short of a story.
CSM Dan Regan left on his final deployment March 1, 2020, in Tucson, AZ. His loving wife, Mary, and his two grandboys, Jacob and Henie, were by his side. Dan had fought with great strength a seven-year battle against cancer. Throughout the battle with cancer, Dan fought with grace, dignity, bravery, and kept his fun-loving personality and vitality for life.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, Tucson, AZ; children, Shawn Regan (Rose), Elk Grove CA, Dani Glasford (Nick Knauer), Tucson, AZ, Jennie Regan (Kevin), San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren, Baylee, Jacob, Hendrick, Katie, Cedric, Levi and Mary Claire; sisters, Kathy (Gary) Lamberton, Pompano Beach, FL, Kelley (Gale) Schipke, Rapid City; brother, Quinn Regan, Rapid City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Mary Regan; in-laws, John and Fern Stoddard; granddaughter, Gwyn Regan; and nephew, Todd Lamberton.
