Daniel "Dan" John Sutfin, of Rapid City, formerly of Lead, passed away on May 23, 2021 at Avantara North in Rapid City at the age of 72.

Dan was born on July 4, 1948 in Pierre, SD to Stephen and Phyllis (Salathe) Sutfin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and also served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

On May 13, 1995, he married the love of his life, Donna Mettler, and together they had 25-plus wonderful years together. Dan and Donna made their home in Lead and both worked in Deadwood gaming for many years before moving to Rapid City for health reasons. Dan enjoyed camping and working in his yard, and was a member of the Bounty Hunter Gun Club.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Donna; two stepchildren; eight grandchildren, with a special bond with granddaughter, Natasha; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kerry (Cathy) Sutfin; three sisters, Pat (Tim) Boren, Anita (Merle) Bierschenk, and Diane Koch; sister-in-law, Ruby (Dwight) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Phyllis Sutfin; brother, Doug Sutfin; and granddaughter, Terri Kempf.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Peggy Hanson officiating. Committal services will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
