Darcy Eugene Rear, 57, of Lead, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Darcy was born September 6, 1954, in Watertown, SD, to Haakon and Enid (Lauseng) Rear. At the time of his death, he had been employed for 39 continuous years with Homestake/Barrick Gold North America.

Darcy is survived by his wife, Kay Rear of Lead; daughter, Krista Rear of Spearfish; son, Jeremy Rear of Lead; sister, Lois Hafner of Sioux Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Ray, Lester, Dale, and Kenny.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brian Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

A memorial has been established.
